So, I'm heading to Vegas in a couple weekends for the big Nascar race with a buddy of mine from work. We got some passes that allow us to basically go anywhere. Since this is my first big Nascar event, I'm wondering what the Q'ing scene is like there, and if I'll be able to mingle with the tailgaters. I was hoping you racing fans could help me out a little so I can maximize the whole experience. Any ideas?

If it is anything like the Nascar race here in KCKS, the cooking will be private parties. Kinda like a bbq contests. I'm sure some people will be willing to talk with you about their cookers and such, but I wouldn't hold out on getting any food from them. BUT you never know, you might get lucky.
