MAK Searing Grate

The wonderful folks at MAK sent me the soon to be released searing grate and I have been putting it through its paces and I thought I would share my experience thus far:

Just a little background - It is a Hard Anodized Teflon coated aluminum grate that fits in place of the regular MAK half grate over the Flame Zone. Being Teflon coated it can't be cleaned with a wire brush. I have found though with a little BBQ PAM before cooking and a scotch brite pad after cooking it cleans up very easily.

My first real test of the grate was with a couple of 2 inch Filet steaks:

Got her up above 400:

Seasoned up with a little McClintocks BBQ Seasoning and on the grill:

Next attempt with the searing grate were mushroom swiss burgers:

Got the MAK above 400 and made up some fresh ground chuck patties
