Tri tip

Earlier in the week I made a tri tip using Tanya's "tatonka" dust for a rub. I liked it! It has a sweet garlic onion flavor with a touch of cayenne heat.

But first up let's make some ABT's!
I found some awesome looking peppers and couldn't pass them up. These were stuffed with white cheddar and wrapped with thin sliced bacon. The jalapeños were seasoned with soileaus as well. The small habaneros got a light seasoning of LLWBP.
I love these things and can never get enough.

I cooked the tri tip with wine soaked oak at 350 degrees. It was pulled at 145 and rested for 5 minutes before slicing. It turned out perfect!

Now plated with a baked potato, steamed green beans and jalapeño and habanero ABT's.

The small habaneros were the perfect bite size. I'll be looking for the small ones again!

I gave the neighbor a couple of each after warning him how hot they were..he yells back over the fence " John my mouth is on FIRE!" ..hehehe he liked them.

Thanks Tanya for the sample! I'll be a customer when your tatonka dust goes to market. I'm trying it on ribs next....

Thanks everyone! I love tri tip..I have some other ideas floating in my head I want to try.
The ABT's were awesome but the habanero ABT's were outstanding! I love the sweet heat of the habanero.

Chili,
That was one righteous meal. I'd have to give one of the habaneros a try. My son, on the other hand would be all over them. He loves real spicy. That tri-tip looked great, too. I have plans to cook another one soon.

What was the flavoring like with the Tatonka Dust?

Art the tatonka dust has a garlic, onion flavor and I'm picking up some cayenne and pepper too. Im sure theres more than that in it and It's really good! I'm going to try it on ribs today and I'm thinking chicken too.
