Crab Cakes No smoke

Down at the beach so lets do some crab fishing.

Lost a few others at the rocks. Had some on but just didn't hook up. landed a nice mommy crab and a baby. Still had a great time and got 2 good sized cakes out of this so I was happy. No smoke :(

Not sure what the fishing regs are in WA but I hope you weren't being literal when you said you took a mother crab (egg bearing?) and a baby (undersized?).

No, I caught them but they went back in the water. No keeping Mommy or baby. No good. Crabbing is usually pretty good don't want to screw it up by taking the mothers.

Sounds like you use a fishing pole? It's been a real long time since I went crabbing but I used to use a pyramid trap or one of those double ring type net traps on a Fort Baker pier near the Golden Gate bridge. Did pretty good.

Going off the jetty in wa. Cape disappointment st park. Works pretty good. Need to cut down the commercial ones or they get on top and you don't hook up as well. Talking to the guy next to me and he has around 200 this year.
