Friend and I did a cow's head once for some of our field guys at work, I guess it's a delicacy in Mexico, traditionally you deep pit them but we went the smoker route. No pics but that thing looked nasty when it was all said and done, guys said it was good and I trusted them enough to not need to taste it!
I roasted acorns once. Picked em up from the yard and put them on the grill. I told the kids they were excellent and they all ate one but nobody asked for seconds.... Evidently they are an acquired taste....
