Traeger hickory pellets

I used the Traeger Hickory Pellets for the first time seemed to be have a lot more smoke in the burn then what I have used in the past. Are these pellets better than most? The rep tells me they do not use fillers.

Traeger pellets are made from alder with only the oil of the flavor wood added. There is no flavor wood in Traeger pellets. Are they better than most? In a word, no. If you want a superior pellet I recommend BBQr's Delight. They are 2/3 oak and 1/3 flavor wood. Oak burns much hotter than alder and renders much less ash.
