    BBQR's Delight Vs. Bear Mountain

I'll be purchasing the new 2012 2 Star Mak in the next month and have read about all the different pellets being used and it seems the two I've narrowed it down to are the BD and the BM. Could someone tell me if there is much of a difference other than price, Thanks!

We use only BBQr's Delight pellets, 100% hard wood, red oak fill with 30% flavor wood. You won't be disapointed with their pellets. They also have a wide variety of flavors, and they are all unique. in my opion they are the number one pellet and all I'll use.

If I could get the BBQers Delight for 50 cents per pound like I can Bear Mountain I would make the switch.
The best I can get the BBQers Delight shipped is 73 cents per pound for a 1000 pound order.
I get great results with the Bear Mountain.

I have used both, both work
We had a problem with the Bear Mt packaging and moisture getting into the pellets
Those bags, about 6 of the 20 I bought made excellent compost
BBQers Delight packaging is fantastic, product top notch, great BTU value in the Oak based pellets

Have used both and I prefer the oak based BBQers delight, great flavors and heat for all types of cooking. Also I have to order pellets as there is no local source nearby so BPS free shipping on the BD pellets makes it a no brainer for me.

When I hear pellet comparisions I am reminded of discussions between people who use lump charcoal versus any kind of briquette. I used to be a die-hard Kingsford charcoal cook. Worked great on my Weber grill and WSM (using the Minion method naturally), I was convinced there could be no better. Then I tried Ozark Oak. I have to be totally out of OO to buy any other kind of charcoal. Nothing wrong with Wicked Good, Royal Oak, Cowboy Charcoal, B&B, Ozark Oak is my preferred brand for my taste and sometimes I have to pay more for it. But I know what my results will be and how food will taste. It's all about price vs. reward...

In reality, you're talking pennies per smoke diff in price.
I would suggest you get some of each, and make up your own mind.

In the grand scheme of things, you get exactly what you pay for

BBQrs Delight are the best pellets I've used bar none. I love the oak they use and when mixed with hickory, oh my. Also use their Oak pellets when I could get them. Unfortunately, my BD supplier dried up so I use BM hickory pellets now since I can buy them from local retailers at around .49/lb. That is until I can get another BD supplier lined up.
Thom, I don't think we can absolve BD completely of packaging issues. My previous supplier would get a pallet of BD pellets in with many of the bags ripped open and pellets missing. Some bags were nearly empty. Pellets in the outer wrapper, pellets on the pallet, pellets strung from Arkansas to CA. I would buy those bags from him because I was getting such a good price but wouldn't always get 10lbs. Every shipment was like that. Once we got a pallet in that something was really wrong with the bags. Many of them would rip open if you lifted the bag from the top. It was only one shipment like that though. You had to use two hands to handle each bag. I heard BD changed packaging last year.
Still, as far as I'm concerned, BD is the best retail available pellet out there and would switch back in a NY minute if I could find another supplier priced like the first one I had.
