Just assembled 2 Star #3949
While unpacking I found the fire pot pin in the bottom of the box.
When I reinstalled it I found it very loose. It’s not going to fall out but I was wondering if this was correct.

MAK 1 Star General #651 - 2014 Model
former owner - MAK 1 Star General #171
22.5" Weber Performer with Stoven Pellet Grill attachment
27 + year old 22.5" Weber Kettle (still works fine)
Modified Horizontal Offset Smoker - used mainly for cold smoking.
Congrats on the 2 Star, you are going to love it!
Yes that is correct, we used to make it tighter but with the expansion and contraction of the metal in that area from all the heat they were difficult to remove at times. All the pin does is keep the fire pot from being pushed out of place from the feeding of pellets. We also used to have a cable lanyard attached to it but they didn't last long over the fire lol.

The pin is 1/4” plus the ball and the hole is 5/16”
There is no contact between the hole and the ball when when inserting the pin.
Like I said, it’s not going anywhere I just wanted to know if that was correct
Thanks MAK DADDY
Kinda figured tha was the case
No Problem, yes the ball will not do anything it just comes standard on that type of pin![]()
