MAK Daddy, is this firmware available now and does it support older MAK 2s? Thanks.
I put aluminum foil over it and then just throw the foil away. If I want direct heat I still use foil, but poke holes in the foils where the holes in the dimples are.
If you haven't done it yet, also upgrade to the new flame zone, especially if you want quicker, higher temps!

As Tent stated, just cook them like a regular visit. I cooked one last summer and used a recipe/method from Malcom Reed for "easy smoked brisket". It came out great.

Do you get new horizontal grates when you order the new flame zone kit or can you still use the old vertical ones?
Just a thought. I have a 2 Star that I bought in 2015 so it has the old flame zone. If I purchased the new flame zone would it be possible to use the old flame zone pan (piece with all the old holes)...
