rsp,
I suggest you do some homework. Both BBQ'RS Delight and Bear Mountain use flavor wood, NOT oils. The difference is in the filler wood with BBQers Delight using 70% Oak and Bear Mountain using 75% Alder.
Something to think about as far as cost to finished product is concerned.
The answer to this will be subjective and is really dependent on how many different pellets someone has tried. My favorite is BBQrs Delight but a very close 2nd is Bear Mountain mostly because it's available locally from stores and it costs about .49/lbWhat are the best brands of Pellets?
that would be dependent on how many lbs your order is. The more you buy, the less shipping cost will be per lb.When you order how much do they charge for shipping?
No, Traeger used flavored oils to make their garlic flavored pellets and their onion flavored pellets. BBQrs Delight doesn't use flavored oils in their pellets to the best of my knowledge.I see on the bbqdelight web page they are flavor wood. Are those the wood with the flavored oils in them?
Like BP said, pellet makers blend pellets for BTU and ash reduction. They are 100% hardwood mix of flavorwood (hickory, apple, cherry etc) and filler wood (alder and oak are the only two I know of used as filler). Some pellet makers make 100% flavor wood pellets. When you see on the bag it's hickory and it's 100% hardwood, don't assume it's 100% hickory unless it says "100% hickory". So to answer your question of why I like them is mostly because I can buy them at a local store for .49/lb!!I see the bear mountain are not 100% they are blended with Alder. Why do you like them if they are a blended pellet.
No, if it's a mix, the highest percentage will almost always be the filler (alder or oak). Like I mentioned above, if it doesn't say "100% hickory" then you can assume it's a blend of some kind. Most pellet makers keep their mix percentage proprietary while others, like BBQrs Delight, give their mix percentage up front. If the bag says Hickory it is 70% hickory and 30% oak. The Pellets I use now are 100% what ever the bag says it is.
Most here will say bbqers delight. Personally I've never tried em. (no Canadian supply) I do prefer the green mountain pellets over traeger pellets though.
I suppose I could get a quote from big poppa for a skid to Blaine.
