Thought I would go ahead and start this now that the Invite chances are done. We are only about 9 wks out till hundreds of teams will be heading to KC.
As for Smoke On Wheels - we are cooking in BOTH this year (we usually don't but have some special guests from Australia coming:) ). And our...
Andy and I are very proud of our girls. 10 and 12, they have been doing Kids' Qs since they were 5 years old. Both have had their shares of wins and when they don't win they see who had the best score between the 2 of them and decide the "winner."
Well at Smokin On Big Creek in Pleasant Hill...
Long time, no type. :o
We have been laying pretty low during our "off" season. Been supporting the girls with their sports and school stuff.
Andy took a little trip to the other side of the world, Australia. He did some demos, some classes, and talked to some butchers about US cuts of meat. He...
Lauren cooked her famous Mexican burgers for the younger category Kids' Q for the AR and took home the grand prize!!
Kaylin didn't do as well as she hoped in the older group. She overcooked her steak. :-(
SOW placed 31st in the Invitational. We thought our food was better than that but in this...
After leaving my husband to fend for himself in Laurie MO (on his birthday), which ended with him being 13th Overall, (but the BEST TEAM in the last 20 yrs:cool:) I will be back to help in Paola.
Paola is always a fun one because the other founding SOW members come back to join us, Andy's...
After 3 weeks off from competing, SOW is heading to northern Iowa this weekend. This is a fantastically run contest with a number of talented teams. Can't wait to see everyone!!
I'm going to post this now while I have the time, because I think the next week and a half is going to fly by for me.
Smoke On Wheels is heading to the NE. Planning to cook on both weekends with a visit to the 'big city' during the week. Visiting family in Brooklyn and lots of bbq friends. We...
Andy's favorite contest. Great friends and lots & lots of fun. This is also where we got our very first Grand in 2009.
This year we are happy to bring in one of our best buddies (Sean) from New York to cook against us. I believe it is his first time cooking on his own in the Midwest.
Maybe...
Seems like we have been on-the-go non-stop since the beginning of the year and we don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.
This coming weekend we decided to pull out of a contest to cook for a charity event on the MO side of the metro. Then we are doing a contest in Manhattan KS then off to...
This will be our last contest till May, hoping it turns out good. We usually never get more than 2 calls in the regular 4 meats here. Still trying to decide what to do for the dessert category. Girls are also cooking kids'q - hamburger.
Smoke on Wheels is heading across the KC Metro to Pleasant Hill MO this weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.
This will be my girls' first cook of the year and Kaylin is very excited about cooking in the older category this year.
The girls and I are sitting this one out, but Andy is there, hopefully ready to go. The Chest to Chest brisket will be turned in after the regular 4 categories.
