Famous Dave from KC was on one of the bar bq tv shows awhile back and placed 2ed over all against Bob Gibson , Brad Orrison to name a few. So I got the opportunity today too eat at one of his restaurants aka Famous Dave's bar bq.
Had the St Louis style ribs and they were really good. Manager came too our table he and I talked about bar bq and the process to make good bq.

Most of the time my experience has been bar bq in a restaurant never meets my expectation but this did.
Maybe I'm silly but I got a kick out of eating someone's bq that I had seen compete against other that were allegedly also good... now I kinda know :)

We got Famous Dave's all over the place up here and I've eaten at a lot of them. Unfortunately like most chain restaurants the food can differ quite a bit from one location to the other. That said, I've had some really good BBQ at some of them, others not so much.

The manager told the wife and I that Famous Dave had over 200 restaurants in 38 states. The one I was at was in Branson Mo.

There are two Famous Dave's 30 minutes from my house. One North, the other South of here. The one up North is better than the one South of us. The Memphis Style Dry Rub BB's are some of the best I have ever eaten, and the pulled pork and brisket are pretty decent as well.

There's one in Fresno if you get lost heading South, actually not bad Q for a chain type restaurant. They do seem to vary based on the franchisee, the one here is very good and the owner loves Q.

I ate at one up in Chicago several years ago and the food was great. One opened up in town and I've made several visits, but the food has been just OK each time.
