Basic Fruit Cobbler Recipe


This is a basic Cobbler recipe that my Grandmother gave me, it calls for blueberries but you can substitute other fruits and make it your own, I do it with peaches quite often as well, also add in a little cinnamon and you can make a nice apple cobbler too. The secret in this recipe is the crumble.

6 cups fresh-picked blueberries
1 cup fresh peaches, diced into 1/2" pieces
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp grated lemon zest
2 T fresh lemon juice

1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup CHILLED butter, cut into 1/2" thick slices

Make the crumble breaking down the butter into smaller pieces with a fork (I use a pastry blender for this) let chill until mixture is crumbly. Make the filling and pour into a large cast iron skillet or baking dish.

Bake around 45 minutes at 375-400 or until top is lightly browned. Don't get the top too brown as it will continue to brown after it is removed. Serve warm.

Blueberry Cobbler

Start off with about 6 cups of fresh blueberries


Add it a cup of diced fresh peaches, flour, sugar, lemon zest and juice


Mix it up good (added a little water to help moisten it up)


Put the filling in a cast iron skillet


Top with the crumble made with flour, brown sugar, and butter


Onto the MAK running at 375


Looking good after about 45 minutes


Let it cool just a tad


Served it up warm with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream

Peach Cobbler

Start with these


Cut 6 large peaches into medium size chunks, add flour, sugar, lemon zest, and lemon juice and mix


Put the peach mix into a cast iron skillet


Make the crumble using flour, brown sugar, white sugar, and chilled butter


Put the crumble on top of the peaches and onto the MAK running at 400


After 45 minutes looking nice


Let cool a little before serving


Serve warm with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream



I love the simplicity of this cobbler idea with a classic struesel crumb topping. Definitely a winner Carter.

Ill use this preparation method regularly
First heat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Butter should be melt in a 9 x 9 inch size baking dish.
Blend both flour, baking powder, sugar, and milk.
Ad batter in baking dish over the butter. Spray fruit on top of the batter, don't stir. Have to bake it at least for 1 hour or until golden brown.
