Just a question...with the cookers you have what possible gain do you think you will get with a charcoal smoker?

sometimes lucile is busy and hazel is only good for 3-4 hour burn. looking to do more butts, chuckies and briskets for parties and what not. and while the charcoal smoker is doing butts and what not i can use lucile for doing my ribs. i still have my catering license and food handlers cert and other ppl have been asking me to cook other things other than ribs. expanding my horizons. :) my wife is always telling me, "work to your strenghts".

Talk to Poppa, get yourself a Backwoods and don't look back. They are so easy to use and turn out some incredible product. See a lot of em on the BBQ circuit. Ask Sterling about the Gator and the Extended Party as I think they are the best bang for the buck.

Spark the onyx holds temp great but it is more of an oven...it smokes good not like a backwoods.

I do not like kamado slow cooked meat in the slightest. It has a charcoal taste....the burn is too efficient. I have the 4K Komodo Kamado, Green Eg, Primo, Bubba Keg and they only get used for hot and fast

The drum is a great place to start. Comp guys win every week on them....

Gravity feed is pretty good if you dont get a charcoal bridge....where the chute gets blocked. I am very very fond of backwoods....too many of the top teams cook great food on them.
