Charcoal

Using a drum smoker and I normally use a natural lump charcoal. Ran out and had to settle for Kingsford Original. Not a huge fan of the taste difference I get with it. Any ideas on how to lose that Kingsford taste?:

Kings Comp Blend (Red Bag) works great for us
Trader Joes also has a nice charcoal in season
I am not a fan of Blue Bag

I normally use Hasty Bake Natural Lump or a generic Natural Lump from Target ( surpassingly good) . I have heard good things about the Comp Blend, I just can never find it close to home.

each spring Costco loads it in and I usually load up as back up

All good things to know. I just wonder if I need to let the coals burn off longer to have that Kingsford taste go away?
