How To 1/2 Cover Flame Zone?

Yep, all the pans have good points and some folks love the flexibility of the smaller covers and multiple zones so that's why we make them. Besides I think the tool is cool :)

The tool is WAY cool! And so is having multiple zones with the covers. :)

I figured since the MAK 1 Stars already come with a full blank pan that works perfectly well and is tried and true, there was no real need to include a blank pan insert for the 1 Star version of the FlameZone.

I have no problems switching them out when needed. It only takes about 30 seconds.

Each drip pan seems to have its own strong points and so far, I like the flexibility of having both. It gives me even more options.

Yeah. I asked about this only because I got used to having that feature on my Primo. I would smoke on the indirect side, then flip the meat over to the direct side for a quick sear, without having to reconfigure. Works great on chicken parts and steaks.

Tinfoil works as good as as a steel flame zone cover. You can tinfoil over half of your direct flame zone and then you have the dual zones, plus it helps in cleanup.

Any update on the option for those of us early 2012 2-Star owners to get the 2, 1/2 flame zone covers with tool kit? I don't see it available on the MAK site and just wondering if there is a potential issue date.
