Looking at RecTec

I have and cooked with gas, Kamado style, electric and a Gator stick burner. I am going to purchase a pellet cooker. RecTec seems to be in my price range. Reviews seem to be excellent. Can anyone add to what else I should consider?

Thanks

Here's my take on the Rec Tec:

I just got back from the "Fall Gathering" down near Augusta Georgia and had another opportunity to see Rec Tecs in action and cook on one. In a nut shell, Rec Tecs are fine cookers, they really are.

Now having said that, if you want a cooker that's even better, in terms of quality, customer service, cooking space and options, then look at the MAK 1 Star General.

The MAK 1 Star, with a full upper Rack (doubles the cook surface area), at Big Poppa Smokers, is priced at $1568.99 and INCLUDES shipping.

The Rec Tec is currently priced at $998 + $120 shipping. Plus some Rec Tec Owners are now adding a third-party downdraft baffle to even out the temps a little better, which costs another almost $100 bucks.

So, realistically the price difference is about $380 more for the MAK with the upper rack.

Both grills are using 304 grade Stainless for the critical parts and grates. Rec Tec is using a mild steel for the body with a high temp powder coat, whereas MAK is using higher grade, thicker aluminized steel with a 1200° powder coat finish.

The bottom line is both are great grills. The MAK is even better.

OK... I'll shut up now and let others chime in!

Im sure they are the cream of the imported crop along with GMG....I dont like how they use the other brands to lure people in in their seo and they have taken some shots at mak that were not deserved.
