Mak Mobile and power?

Looking at purchasing the wifi chip. However, I typically unplug the iwe to the smoker between cooks. Will the module retain the SsID a nd security settings in flash without the power being plugged in?

I have good wifi at my home. So hopefully will not run into issues.

Two more questions, since it is winter time and cooler temps. Can the smoker Do a remote start. I.e. When about to do a long cook, have the smoker kick off at a predetermined time or start it remotely from the bedroom, then go and put the meat on when it gets up to temp?

I agree with the feature request in other threads to use the mobile app as a monitoring/notification device but have the pellet boss be the master control of the cook. I prefer the architecture of the pellet boss being master and the remote app be a slave. I guess you don't have the processing to do that. rPi might be hardware to look at in the future for that.

No, it is a safety issue (like you forgot the cover was on the grill).

You can do exactly this with the Remote Boss minus the phone of course. We will develop an app in the future as well.

I leave my 2 Star unplugged all the time. It's only plugged in when I'm cooking. Have never had any issues with losing any wifi settings

I tried to post a reply but i guess it got lost.

Got my wifi chip plugged in and working. Works great and enjoy my first cook with it today. It wasn't complex but i can see some value. Just wish it wasn't so expensive. Please don't tell my wife. :)

Any suggestions or recommendations to leave it plugged in all year. Best way to weatherproof the extension cable to the outside outlet? Those cable covers work? The ones that go around the plugs, mount that underneath the pellet box on a hook or something. Then run extension cable over to a GFCI outlet with a cover over it to protect from rain or snow. Something like the following. https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/3266/ELEC-WP3100C.html

Thanks for the help. I have had my MAK for about a month and loving it.

I wouldn't recommend leaving it plugged in all year long but if that's what you want to do then your plan to use covers to protect the cable and outlet sound ok to me.
