Question - on the grates, I think I see in your picture that there are multiple slides to hold grates at different levels. But the center partition seems to curve back and get smaller as it goes up. Can you put the grates in any one of the slots and still get the lid closed? Or does it come with different size grates for the upper slots? How does that work?

I believe it does close with the grates in any position. That center rack to hold the grates is removable as well.

I really like the aluminum pans set below the food on the main grate for easy cleanup! I am stealing that idea!

All of the upper grates are the same size so you can put them in any slot and close the lid.
