Hi all, I'm new to the wonderful world of pellet smoking. I've had my unit about a month
and would like your help on where to order fuel. I'm finding that the shipping cost are
very pricey. any suggestions?

Your best bet, IMHO, is to get a bag or two of all the flavors you would think you would like, and when you settle in on what you like, order in bulk. Like 1000lbs at a time.

I order my pellets from big poppa. I usually get 40 - 80 pounds every couple weeks or so.

As pellet smokers become more and more popular, outlets for smoking pellets are becoming easier to find. Buying from smoker retailers is generally not the best resource. They want to sell you pellets they distribute at prices considerably higher than other outlets sell them for. I own a Traeger and the local distributer sells 20# bags of pellets for around $15.00 each, same as the Traeger catalog price. I have a couple of local outlets that sell a different brand for about $9.00 ea. These are specifically produced for pellet smokers, not pellet heaters and they come in all the same flavors Traeger sells. Check around and I'm sure you'll be surprised at the savings and availability.

Thanks, I'll check the Big Poppa web-site. Love free shipping! I went with the Yoder ys640. Works great and very solid smoker.
