Ocean Spray Jellied is King!!!!

I love that stuff! I think it gets a bad rap sometimes and gets dis'd in some circles in my family. It has the perfect tart to sweet ratio and it can be sliced to put on turkey sandwiches!
I've tried the whole berry stuff and I've tried countless homemade versions over the last 54 years. I've never had a homemade version that could compare to the jellied. Jellied version is king in my book! lol
Some love the jellied! Some dislike it!

Which are you and why?

Here are a couple of my real cranberry sauces ;)

Cran-apple sauce

12 oz cranberries
2 large apples, peeled and diced
1 cup apple cider
1/2 cup maple sugar
1/2 cup vanilla sugar
(you could use 1 cup regular or brown sugar in place of the maple & vanilla sugar)
1 tsp cinnamon

Put all in saucepan, mix, bring to a boil & then turn down to simmer. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries pop and it starts to thicken.

Cran-Blueberry Sauce

1 12oz bag cranberries
1 cup of water
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp dried lemon zest
2 Tbsp crystallized ginger, minced
2 cups frozen or fresh blueberries

Put all in saucepan, mix, bring to a boil & then turn down to simmer. Simmer 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries pop and it starts to thicken.

I would totally go with a homemade version, but my family is jellied all the way...it even has a crystal container it sits in. The irony--jellied cranberry shaped like a can with grooves and all in a cut crystal serving dish! I think its the fanciest container on the table:).

Deb you could make a cranberry marmalade. The natural pectin in orange peel makes a really nice jelly.

Same here. The canned stuff is fine, I actually do like it, but homemade is just so much better.

I always do a Cran-Apple-Orange sauce with a touch of cinnamon & nutmeg. Although this year I just may give your Cran-Blueberry sauce a go.

The canned stuff is palatable, but nothing beats a good homemade cranberry sauce.
