Pellet Grills

So after much debate I purchased my first pellet grill, Mak 2 Star, as an early Father's Day present for my semi-retired dad about a month ago. This thing has been used almost daily since, as we have both feel in love with it.

The problem now is that I want my own for my house. But, since I am thinking about a outdoor kitchen I am holding off on a Mak until the 3 star comes out.

Has anyone had good luck with a Rec-Tec in the mean time? Its my plan to use it for a while, until the 3 star and then sell it.

I know there is the 1 star, but I am wanting something bigger, as I entertain almost weekly.

I just picked up a 4 Star. I can't imagine I'll ever need anything else. I also picked up an Alfresco Sear Burner which can get to 1400 degrees and an Alfresco Versapower burner that can pump out 64,000 BTUs in case I need to make swords and other various weapons.

In all seriousness, if you entertain weekly for large crowds don't discount the 4 star. It's big and expensive, but it's a life purchase.

From what I understand the 3 star won't be available until early 2014.

I own a Rec Tec and love it. It fit my budget and did all that I want a pellet smoker to do. I have done butts, brisket, chicken, ribs, pizza, fish, wings, ABT's. I even made a peach cobbler on fathers day. I have 5 children and 4 grandchildren and have had no problem cooking for all of them on hoildays and such. It sits on my patio and I have used it when it was windy and 30 degrees and the temparture never varied from the set point more than 2 or 3 degrees. The best thing for me is the peace of mind I get knowing if I had a problem Rec Tec will do everything humanly possilbe to recitify it. The guys at Rec Tec are great if needed. If you have any more questions concerning the Rec Tec ask or just call Ray or Ron at Rec Tec and talk with them.

dont sell a one star short on capacity with the shelf it is plenty big

What BP said! I own a 1 Star and it along with my Weber/Stoven Combo just fed over 100 people at our daughter's graduation cookout.

The 1 Star also features the exact same controller as the 2 Star.

If you have any doubt about the size or ability of the MAK 1 then I suggest that you search this site for all posts by TentHunter and after you review those you still have doubt, then look for all other post that mention MAK 1 and I strongly suspect your doubts will have gone. The MAK 1 is not only a great entry level smoker but it can be expanded to meet your needs as you grow. I know several individuals who use the MAK 1 in competitions and they do very well.

Yes...can you email [email protected] We will get it right to you! Im going to tell you that the Onde Star was done for bricks and mortar to give MAK an entry level grill...but they sent the first one to me and I loved it so much and still cook most on a one star...we compete with a one star...it puts out a little more smoke! It hasnt really worked out as an entry level it has worked as a great smopking machine
