Silly question - cleaning a MAK griddle

So I did some cooking on the griddle and it is fairly gummed up. Instructions say use only hot water and non-abrassive cloth. The baked in greese does not seem to be coming off. Anything that can be used to get it cleaner without damaging it?

Thanks.

It's a pretty tough coating, as long as you don't scrape it with metal or an aggressive scotchbrite you should be fine.
Any type of soap or degreaser will work, just remember you eat off of it so be conscious of rinsing well.
I abuse mine just to see how long it will last, it's turned color shades slightly but the coating is holding up remarkably well.

Others may have good cleaning methods to share as well.

Thanks - will try that. As an aside, did some diner style burgers with grilled onions once and steak and grilled onions, green peppers, and mushrooms for cheesestakes. Both came out great. Griddle works really well.

Sounds awesome! We use it mostly for veggies, sometimes sausage gravy.

Bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, onions, mushrooms etc. Toss in a bag with olive oil and Mrs dash (regular) then grill in the griddle for 5 minutes.

I cook on my MAK with griddle a lot (7 nights straight so far), mainly veggies, peppers and onions for fajitas ect, it is also the best way ever to cook bacon, no mess or smell in the house. I clean the griddle like I clean my cast iron. Boil off the junk and use a soft brush to scrape off the left over stuff.

I was wondering about that. I do that with my cast iron on the stove and wasn't sure temp of stove and was afraid it might be too hot for the griddle. Do you just do it in the MAK and add water to boil? Feeling silly for not thinking of that myself - my original silly question with an obvious answer :)

I just keep it on the MAK, set the grill on high and pour in some water and let it boil for a couple minutes. This frees up all the gunk and then I can just wipe it out when it cools. I have had to use a scotchbright on it a couple times but I do that very lightly.

One of our favorite things to do is cut up squash, zucchini, peppers and onions add just a touch of mango BBQ sauce and then grill on the griddle until they are a little browned but still have a little texture to them. It is a great easy side dish to just about anything that comes off the grill.

I also have an older Mak2 with only 1/3rd flame zone (the conversion kit should arrive today!). I used to just use the griddle over the flame zone. Recently I wanted to grill some flank steak but also cook the veggies for fajitas. I put the griddle on the indirect side and it worked great. Not sure why I never thought of that before, it runs a little cooler but still worked fine.
