The beast has arrived!

My Yoder YS640 came in yesterday Fed Ex freight exactly one week after I ordered it. I got the second shelf, grill grates, and cover upgrades on it. I know everyone says it is built like a tank but I didn't fully appreciate that statement until I actually saw this thing in person. I called up two buddies and we got it off the crate and wheeled it up a pair of 2x10's onto my back deck. The moveable baffle inside is such a simple, ingenius idea. The short throw auger is a much better design than the long throw Traeger. It took my Traeger several minutes to get its auger full of pellets when I first fired it up, the Yoder took about 15 seconds. Less chance of it getting jammed. It has a very nice pellet feed hopper. I swear the work shelves on the outside weigh more than the entire Traeger grill I had. Anyways, I am doing the seasoning run now and look forward to many wonderful cooking experiences.

Yep those Yoders are a beast!

There is a 10 year warranty on the body of the thing for a reason ;)

Verify that you are running the latest software version and the updated fans with the unit. Being brand new it should have them already but I would double check.

Doing some test running on it now, set the temperature to its maximum of 600, left the baffle all the way out (largest heating area), regular grill plates and the temperature sat pretty steady at 515. If I were to put in the grill grates and use the baffle, this thing should be ridiculously hot for steak searing!

Congrats, nice looking unit!
I believe the latest firmware is U24 with dual fans, ours is running U21 with a single fan; our Yoder works perfect for us and see no reason to upgrade it. Look forward to hearing about and seeing your cooking experiences with your new Yoder!

We don't run our Yoder past 350º with the baffle in, the heat will warp it. If we plan on cooking past 350º we pull the baffle and call it grilling. The baffle is great for even temps and smoking; and if your smoking your temps should be 225º or under.

I'm not one who normally takes pictures of my cooks, because I don't really do much everyone else doesn't do already, so I apologize for that. However the Beast is dirty and I am loving it. One thing I would like to add is that Yoder lists the hopper at 18 lbs of capacity, which I always thought was silly since you buy 20 lb bags. However I easily poured an entire bag of pellets into the hopper just now and had a bit of room to spare. I am not regretting the upgrade at all. Thanks to Yoder for the grill/smoker and thanks to Big Poppa for all the supplies I order!

Yeah! That thing looks awesome! I would have gone with the Yoder except for the problems they were having with the software and fans.
