Sparky I make my own rub most of the time, however I do like Strawberry's Grand Champion Rub. Its made up in MO. not too far from here. You can ck them out on the web .. not sure if I'm allowed to post website on here don't want the wrath of BP on me :)

Ditto on what HogSmoker said about making homemade rubs. For me it's out of necessity (allergies sensitivities).

I use BOTH Little Louise's Seasoned Garlic Salts. The one with Black Pepper I use when I want a little more kick on steaks. This will be on my next standing prime rib roast!

I also really like the Smoking Guns "Gun Powder" with beef (it has a stronger cumin flavor that compliments beef well).

And the Smoking Guns "Sweat Heat" is great on everything pork. The Sweet & the Heat play really well against each other and gives a nice little kick at the back end without taking over the flavor. It's great on chicken too!

Big Poppa gave me a dozen different ones and I haven't tried one yet I didn't love. Today I whipped up my own in the contest thread and it was yummy. Sis loves her some spices & herbs all ground up with sugar. I use Big Poppa's and Little Louie's almost every day--even on breakfast eggs.

My very favorite one of all I found years ago when on a cattle drive. A bunch of cowboys were making ribs over an outdoor fire. I asked what in the world had they put on there that was so wonderful. Roundup Seasoning by Old Country Deli in San Luis Obispo.

Head Country on ribs.
Salt Lick Clone (or it's messy "OMG I don't have enough rub" cousin - Dumpster Rub) on butts.
Jan's Rub on poultry.
Sure Shot Sid's Gunpowder on beef.

And Soileau's on everything if I have a bottle within reach...

Bovine bold on butts. Yardbird or Desert Gold on chicken. DSSR on beef. A little bit of everything has been tried on ribs...still looking for a standout. Lately I've been adding a dusting of Little Louies on top of other seasonings. Desert Gold and LL on taters. Oh yeah, usually add a dusting of cayenne to just about everything!

I dont use any with msg so that throws a lot out...My wife doesnt do well with it and there are so many people who dont its not worth it.

I only use smokin guns gunpowder as a finishing rub (that is what it is designed for) If I use Smokin Guns it is when my wife is gone and I now pretty much only use the hot....(that is the one that the comp teams use) and I use it with other rubs usually double secret

I love all of Plowboys...I use 3eyes with llwp 90/10 for some chicken...

I use desert gold a lot on veggies

Seriously I am using more llwp than anything and the funny thing is that was the last one I mixed and did it as an afterthought.
I use some head country mixed with my stuff on bbq stuff
Thats about all

\Im not plugging my stuff but Im using those rubs now about 90% of the time and I have a new one Im still tweaking for Comp BBQ that I am totally loving....

Roundup Seasoning by Old Country Deli in San Luis Obispo.

Old Country Deli and Gus's Grocery made some great memories in my SLO days, the Roundup rub is awesome.

For me my go to rubs are (at the moment):

Tri tip - BP's Double Secret, Susie Q red (no msg)
Chicken - Hasty Bake greek, Desert gold, 3Eyz, PLowboys The Jerk
Ribs - Cimmaron Docs, Magic Dust or Plowboys Yardbird most of the time
Butts - Carolina Treet glue and Yardbird
Veggies - Desert gold

The Little Louies with pepper always seems to find its way into the mix as well!

I really like 3 Eyez and plowboys. 3 Eyez on pork and ribs, Yardbird on chicken and Bovine Bold on steaks. I put some smoki'n guns hot on one of the two butts on the grill now (the other has 3 Eyez) for a side by side test. I really need to get some BPS rubs to try, I'll be placing an order soon, almost out of pellets!

Hmm, I've never been much for store bought rubs, have always made my own, but sauce on the other hand I seem to be more premade. I do use a rub I make and adjust a bit that I got from a smoking class I took a year or so back at the roccity ribfest that I really like. I'm interested to see what Big Poppas rubs are like as I should be getting those this week with the delivery of my Memphis smoker due to arrive on Wednesday. Very excited. Thanks Big Poppa for a great ordering experience.
