Cleaning your MAK grill or any other.... ideals

Other than general maintenance how far do you go cleaning your grills? I always clean the surface after I cook and clean out the fire pot after 3 or 4 cooks and the temp probe. I have used foil on on the tray thinking it would be a easy clean, however not sure if thats the way too go.

Question is should you ever clean the inside sides and under the lid? Over time the smoke and grease residue does build up. And if you should how would one do this ?
Thanks for any insight on this...

Plastic putty knife... (the cheaper the better, as it will flex)

I clean my louvers out with a plastic dinner knife that I absconded from the cafeteria.

I just take the cover off and give it a good scrubing. No big deal and easy to clean that way.
