Outcast

Are we an outcast on this site if we don't own a MAK grill as it seems we are in a huge minority? Does the cooking style vary from one make of grill to another?

Outcast? You have started 4 threads and have 19 responses with eight of them being very warm welcome.......Its all about pellets. I dont sell GMGs but think they are the class of the imported grills.

I dont know how we could treat you better....if someone has not welcomed you with open arms let me know!

We all love our cookers as I'm sure you do too, but the concepts and cooking style are the same! We love sharing and seeing what everyone else is doing on their cookers even more. Owning the "right" grill doesn't matter here.

Didn't mean anything negitive about your great site but wondered why there weren't more owners of other grills on the site. In all honesty never heard of a MAK grill until I came upon your site. If I offended you my appoligies. The folks on the site have been more than congenial.

Greg, I think you see alot of MAK for a couple of reasons:
#1. BPS is all about American Made, and Quality/Innovative product.-- MAK fits that to a Tee! (BPS is a sister site to here, and the one that funds this lil corner of the internet)
#2. Many people find their way here as BPS customers, so there is a natural slant towards those products they sell.
#3. Bob (MAK Daddy) posts here regularly, and is very active in the forum here... so you get alot of MAK folks, even ones that did not purchase pits from BPS.
I think you will find there are alot of Traeger owners, some Country smoker owners, and then some other pits that are starting to dabble in like Sawtooth, and others. I believe there are a handful of FE1000 grill owners, and 1 or 2 yoder owners I think I have seen introduce themselves. We currently have an FEC100 (x3), A Cookshack Charbroiler, a TG-300, CS-1320(whole hog) that we use in comps/classes. I am testing a yoder, and putting it through the paces right now, and am looking forward to the new 4Star when it is ready for prime time! (I put my review of the two star here in a previous thread).

The thing that is great about this place is that someone is always pushing the envelope, and usually there are pics of it!!! Do a search on Nutella... and see what that was used for - you wont believe it til you see it!!! The food and the pics here are second to none. I dont know anyplace else on the net that gives gift cards to every member posting pics (during special occasions) -- JUST for posting. And the peeps here are second to none. No flaming like you see on other boards, no politics, etc.

Poke around and I think you'll see that no one is an outcast :) Now yes, there is a diffence in how these things cook. And there are alot of posts on the different styles of cooking and what cookers are best suited for each type, etc. so dive on in and start some threads on all the ways to do something based on type/style of cooker. :)

Tap into the wealth of knowledge out here! Welcome! :)

Hog...its about a community where we promote and enjoy all things pelletsmoking. If you light a pouch of pellets in foil you get a ton of smoke! Also it allows nice people to ease on in Look at Tent Hunter....He is a great contributor and teachs all of us a lot...for a long time he didnt have a pellet cooker.....same with Susan...very talented and helpful. When given a choice between auger fed and not having the people we have I go with the people

Greg, I think pellet pit owners that are on forums will naturally gravitate to the forum where their pit manufacturer and/or dealer tend to frequent. It's a secure feeling knowing your manufacturer and/or dealer is invested in your satisfaction and are easily accessible for questions and comments. MAK DADDY frequents this site thus you'll find many MAK owners here who know if they want the most up to date information regarding their pit will stay closeby and keep track of what he says on the forum.
On top of that you'll find the group of people on this site are very cordial and helpful no matter what you use to cook with in your back yard! Enjoy the site.

What a great thread, we love all pellet grills and OK some love charcoal too :)
If you were in Stockton in May you would have seen me hanging out with Mike Riblet the GMG rep, I have chatted with Bob at Memphis grills, hung out with the Wood Master guys in SLC etc. It's a big market and we are all in it together (even the ones who aren't so nice).
Welcome!
Bob

Greg, I cook on a very old Weber. I'm kind of a minimalist and have found it's all about the pellets and the flavor I can get with a simple handful right on the coals or a foil packet of pellets. When I first came on board I wanted some sort of pellet grill but then I learned some tricks from the great folks here and I'm having fun and eating well.

I have to echo what others have said. This is a great place full of friendly folks who love to cook and share their ideas using pellets! It's the most positive online forum experience I've ever had.

Thanks everyone for making it that way!
