MAK vs Memphis

I'm a little late to the party, but I recently went through the same decision process. I was torn between the MAK and the Memphis. Then I started reading about the FEPG1000 and FEPG500. I thought I wanted the FEPG1000. Then I started digging deeper. I started at Cookshack. First question was about the insulation. Got several different answers from Cookshack employees about exactly what was insulated and what was not. Not that insulation was important to me at the time, but I found it interesting that no one could give me a straight answer.
So I came back to the MAK vs Memphis dilemma. I went with the MAK 2 Star because of the features and the Pellet Boss controller with the meat probes. Hopefully I'll have it here soon. It was suppose to ship this week but I haven't heard.
This is not my first rodeo with pellet grills. I have both a GMG and a Yoder Grill. The GMG is ok as a starter, but it won't last very long. It's rusting after only a year and a half, and they can't come up with a solution for the heat shield, to keep it from warping. The Yoder is going to be a wonderful grill when they get the bugs worked out. I just don't want to be a beta-tester for them any longer. Don't get me wrong - Yoder's customer service is wonderful, but I want to cook, not wait for replacement parts.
I think I'm going to be very happy with my MAK.
Update: cancelled my order... maybe in the Spring
