if you going to cook food over fire it should have some form of rub on it. i've spend 100's of dollars on all different types of rubs. i have come down to these rubs that i love the most. i can cook anything w/ what i have in my spice rack.

My wife would be happy to confirm that I have too many spices and rubs. The problem is that I cook other things that require different seasonings than the BBQ-related spices/rubs. For instance, I do like to make sausage every now and then. This requires a different spice set all by itself. Before I dig a hole that buries me, I better get off my soapbox.

Dear, I am keeping all my spices and rubs!! (I hope she didn't hear me.)

So Sparky time to put you on the spot ;)

Of your rub selection, if you could only keep one which one would it be?

soileau's. i love this stuff. put it on light or heavy depending on how much you want to hurt yourself. lightly you can use it on everything. we have one bottle on the stove, kitchen table and outside spice rack. the whole family loves it.

if i had to break it down to a few,

soileau's

swine / bovine

miner mix maynard memphis

desert gold

tatonka dust

simply marvelous sweet seduction

Nice set up, Spark.
I've been looking for better organization in the spice/rub Department.
Where did you make the purchase? Online?

Like most, I have many rubs and spices. Because I'm basically a backyard chef, my turnove isn't that great. I often loose track of how old jar is and consider dumping it. Of course, because I now have more room, It allows me to purchase more.
A "never winning" cycle.

Thanks, good info! I'm just beginning to explore the world of rubs, I could certainly see myself ending up with a substantial collection over time!

I am always trying new rubs and spices. I have a few "go to" rubs but variety is the spice of life ;)

The BP rubs that I have tried so far have been really good! I also like how much rub you get in a bottle. Sometimes there is not even enough to cover a few racks of ribs.
