New MAK 1 Star General en route from BPS

Just made my first of many purchases from BPS. The new MAK 1 Star General (with cover, side shelf, inside 1/2 rack and 3 probes) is on the way to me in Denver. I have also ordered a bag of apple and a bag of pecan to start things off. I sure hope I didn't just make a $1,700 oops. I'll keep everyone updated and hopefully contribute some great pics.

I am confident I made the right decision after 6 months of research. There is always that small "what if" after that kind of investment. I can't wait for my journey of a professional "at home" smoker begins. Hopefully I can bring a little of my hometown of Kansas City to my new home in Denver. The BBQ out here lacks the enthusiasm and quality I was raised around. Maybe I just need to get out more.

" I sure hope I didn't just make a $1,700 oops." I giving it to you straight . You may have. It quickly becomes a obsession. We have two MAK Grills ,two Big Poppa Smokers Drum smokers and others. It is just the wife and I at home. We do have some great parties now. We terrorize our MAK Grills they are used at least 200 times a year. Cleaned only when needed. They are cooking machines. You will like the MAK it changes how you cook. We did four butts on one MAK yesterday to take to a party in Palm springs tomorrow. We know our invites are expected with food .Post some photos when you get it cooking

Not a mistake ordering a MAK at all, you will be so pleased after you get it. And once you do your first cook you will be thoroughly impressed as will those lucky folks that get to consume your food. You are about to embark on a trip of BBQ fun, enjoy.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to reinforce my decision. I have since order 135 pounds of pellets, injection syringe, a-maze-n tube smoker for cheese, and two half upper racks for expansion. I am beyond excited. Happy smokin' everyone.

I have since order... and two half upper racks for expansion.

That too was a smart decision. Two upper half racks cost a few more bucks than a single full upper rack, but it gives you more flexibility. Many times you will only need a single upper half rack to add a side dish and you can still easily get to your food on the bottom.

Make the griddle and a split grate your next purchase, and be amazed at the possibilities of what you can cook!

The flexibility is what I love most about our MAK.

I have been cooking ribs for years using charcoal & wood, yesterday I cooked them on my new Mak and my wife said they were the best she has ever had. You won't be sorry!

Went through the same potential regrets 2 yrs ago. I can tell you, it wasn't an oops, but you did create an addiction! As Sparky would say, "get bigger pants".
