Best pellets to buy?

I've been smoking and BBQing a long time. I'm new to pellet smoking and am looking for thoughts on what are the best brand pellets to buy and maybe some pointers on the best ways to smoke with them. Also has anyone tried any mixing con concoctions that they are fond of?

There are a few good brands out there.

My go to brand is BBQer's Delight. They're a premium pellet, but I really like the consistent results and great flavor I get from them.

My favorite blend is a 50/50 blend Apple & Hickory.


One advantage BBQer's delight has is that they are Oak-based. They might cost a little more than the alder-based pellets (depending on where you get them), but they have a higher BTU rating, so they are more efficient.
