Help with purchase

I have been researching and trying to decide on a pellet cooker for months now. I'm pretty sure I have narrowed it down to a Yoder ys640 or Mak 2. Thus far, I'm leaning towards the Mak. However, I still want to grill quite a bit and really don't want two units. Can the Mak 2 get hot enough to grill like the Yoder claims? I'm incredibly anal on decisions like this and spend way to much time, because I want to make the right purchase the first time....

i have a mak one star and love it. As far as grilling, it does an ok job...gets to 500 degrees but its still basically indirect heat but it works.

I had a yoder and presently have a mak (and a Louisianna). I didn't like the yoder for grilling because it took so long to get up to temp and it used a lot of pellets at high temps. I'm also not a big fan of the ash blowing when on high. It will get hotter than the mak though. You can get great grilled food on a pellet grill but there are better options. I have a cheap infared grill that in my opinion is much better at grilling. I can get over 700 degrees rather quickly at the grate. Great charbroiled flavor and doesn't dry the food out. Understand you don't want two units though. I haven't owned a Memphis but that may be another pellet pooper that would fit your needs.
