Pellt grill reviews

I'm wanting to purchase a new pellet grill but can't find anywhere that has good reviews on all the different makes & models. I have my eye on the Cabela's Pellet Grill that has 560 sq. in. of cooking area & has good reviews on their site & is $599. The size is a good fit for me, but what I'd like to know is who's grill is easiest to clean & maintain. Price is really not a big issue just looking to not spend a lot of time fooling with it when it's not in use. I'd appreciate any input you guys can offer. Thanks.

I just went through the pellet grill buying process myself, and the reviews are out there but do require a lot of "googling" and digging around on various sites. I found this site and pelletheads.com to be the most informative for pellet grills in particular, but beware that these two sites have varying manufacturer loyalty and can be somewhat biased. You will get lots of "You MUST buy THIS one" if you go asking for advice, so do your research and find what fits your needs.

Having said all that, the easiest cookers to keep clean, in my opinion, will have stainless steel internal parts like grates, heat deflectors, flame zones, etc.. If price is not an issue for you, then I would look at something with more stainless steel innards, which you will probably not be getting for $600...

Good luck with your decision. I have been using my pellet grill for about 2 weeks now and I have absolutely no regrets!

I agree with you it very hard to decide, but I did bring it down to either MAK or Rec Tec. Of all the reading I have been able to do I have yet to run across a bad comment about the MAK. I do like the idea it produces more smoke then other units (not sure how that effects the pellet usage). I am a empty nester now that the kids are gone and married, so for me it pretty much going to be the MAK 1. I wish Rec Tec would have come you with a smaller unit more to what I need. I read up on the new Mimi Rec Tec, but not what I need either. Just my 2 cents from a newbie like you. Good luck in your hoice

... given a choice if I had to do it over again, I'd still spend the extra $$$ on a MAK.

Me too... per Scooter's sage advice: "Buy the best and only cry once"

I have cooked something different on my new MAK almost every day in the last week, and everything has exceeded my expectations. Steaks, pork shoulder, chicken, salmon, and even cheese(!)... Today I bought a tri-tip and a brisket at Costco so I have a full weekend of MAK Magic coming up!

Cooking for two is what we use our MAK for most the time. In fact right now there are two bone in chicken breast on the MAK using one of the cooking programs using MAK mobile
