Char Griller Pellet Grill Lowes Purchase Recommendation

The Char Griller Pellet Grill is on sale at Lowes this weekend for $449.99. I am a vet, so I would get an additional discount of 10% bringing the price down to $404.99. If I pay for the grill with my Discover Card I will get 5% cash back making the final price $384.74 (no sales tax in Oregon). Is this Pellet Grill a sound purchase for this price? I am debating between this and the $699 Traeger at Costco. I'm not sure if the Traeger's build quality is significantly better thus justifying the additional cost. Any input from folks who own this Grill would be very helpful! Thanks!

If you're looking to buy the cheapest pellet grill you can find then that's exactly what you'll own. Buy the best and only cry once.

I bought the Costco Traeger Century on Friday. Put it together Friday night, and did ribs Saturday. I was monitoring the temp with my Maverick and it had really wide swings. On "smoke" it would run from 170 to 230. On 225 it would run 200-300. The Maverick temp probe was within a few degrees of the Traeger temp readout. I called Traeger customer service and was told to expect +/- 30. I'll call back and talk it over with them and see if it can be significantly improved. If not, then back it goes. Glad Costco has such a good return policy.

That's why mine went back years ago.
