I know it's hard to improve on an already amazing product but leave it to MAK to find a way! Here is a look at the new MAK 2 Star General now available.
Main upgrades are:
304 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Body
Quick Change Grease Pan System
5 Button Pellet Boss Controller (Remote Boss ready)
Powder color is Silver Vein

We made many minor design improvements as well

Thanks! The Pellet Boss has the same screens and settings as before we just rearranged the buttons for easier navigation

How much of that heat gain will be realized by retrofitting an older MAK2 with the new insert?

I just sent MAK Daddy and email about this yesterday, and I'll be posting with some pics hopefully this weekend. Even with the wild temp swings we've had this winter I can testify that the new silver vein powder coat finish is holding up extremely well.

So far there are no visible signs of any flaking, bubbling etc. on mine. It is some tough stuff!

If you've been waiting to get a MAK or thinking about a second one, now is the time!

Now you just need to make both the 1 and 2 Star completly out of 304 Stainless to top this.

He has two on order! Me...I want 304 stanless 1 stars for our comp trailer.

The 500 degree is more of a function of the new stainless body...the temp were limited to protect the powder coat

Overall temps will depend on all the variables like pellets, cleanliness etc. but the stainless does have some great heat refraction & retention properties.

We are working on retrofit SST body designs for current owners (they are not exactly the same as the new grill), they should be ready in a couple months.

The new quick change grease pan accessory kits for older 2 stars are in production currently and will be available for the 1 star as well.

I did put more black in it, its just hard to tell from those bright photos The stainless while indestructible is still a pain to keep looking "scooter like" so I think this combination is perfect! It really is a beutiful color, has proven to be extremely durable and blends with the stainless really well.

Bob, I don't think there's a company out there that has your level of drive to perfection. The fact that you continue to innovate is one thing, companies need to do that to stay ahead of the game, but the fact that you continue to think of your current customers and innovating and adapting things for those of us who have already made the initial investment with your company is incredible. The big dollars are in the new customers, not us old timers who already shelled out our dollars but yet you don't forget about us and that is something to be proud of.
I'm coming up on 2 years of MAK ownership and I couldn't be happier that I invested in not just a great smoker but a great company. The way you all have responded to things along the way is what makes MAK grills great. My ownership hasn't been without it's minor issues but the way you guys respond to them makes them mere speed bumps instead of total detours.
