I received this in an email from a long time friend from PA. With the holiday coming upon us, I thought everyone would get a kick out of this.

"If you are from the Burgh you'll understand. If not, just let me say that chipped ham is a Pittsburgh thing. Iron City beer, Isaly's chipped ham, and pierogis . Yum, yum"

The comforts of home. The chipped ham is killer..especially when you add a lilttle bbq sauce to it. Pierogies are a staple, we make them from scratch every few months. I don't recommend the Iron City Beer. Rumor has it they make it from Three Rivers water.

Ha ha!

Yep, We call it Chip-Chop ham it's a western PA & Ohio thing. The pierogies are a nice touch too (also very popular here).

I'm just surprised the beer isn't Yuengling! ;)

Maybe if this was from the middle to eastern side of the state it would be Yeungling. But, it is the Iron City, afterall.

Iron City, no doubt, is the iconic Pittsburg beer.

My brother (who lived in Pittsburgh) turned me onto Yeungling. So many folks were driving across the border to get Yeungling that it finally just recently became available in Ohio (which is good news for me). ;)
