BBQ Pitmasters Season 3

I just finished watching BBQ Pitmasters season 2 in High Def on Netflix (Roku Player hooked to HDTV). I have to admit I really enjoyed the new format. Even Myron Mixon was more tolerable. It was especially great seeing the BPS team in action!

It seemed like the producers really did a great job of leveling the playing field as much as possible, which I liked.

Does anyone know if season 3 will be the same format?

I sure hope not. Season 2 had a few pluses but for the most part was a huge disappointment for me compared to Season 1.

OK season two may have been rigged slightly.....when we cooked against Johnny amazing and coincidental Ribs were the meat...in the production meeting the day before it was blind judging....the day of shooting its presentation judging....we didnt care we had a blast. Myron was a complete jerk to us.

He referred to you guys as tailgaters! Talk about rigged. Ladies and gentlemen we have here Big Poppa Smokers, and over here Diva Q, and here we have Big Mista Neil Strawder and over here we have 2 time world champion from Alvarado TX, The Godfather, Smokin Triggers one and only Johnny Trigg! Ummmm, I wonder who's going to win! :)

Although I understand the money involved in branding, still, it should never have been called BBQ Pitmasters Season 2. It would have been more appropriately titled Kingsford BBQ Challenge Cup or something like that. It was nothing like Pitmasters season 1. I enjoyed watching the competitors but preferred the format of season 1.

John Markus was on Rempe's show last week and he didn't give out much info but alluded that those who liked season 1 would not be disappointed with season 3. We'll see. Good Smokin luck everybody! :)

Mark my words.....they will have to go to a second and thirds list.....depending on the format and length of commitment vs the no money. Many of these teams cannot drop certain commitments....like work.....I would think that they would contact the teams get confirmations and then announce publicly. We ha

Some teams are mentioning on another site that they didn't get chosen. So it sounds like they have started to make contact with teams?

Tonight season 3 teams are announced on Rempe's show
If I heard right

Thom, I meant to mention I enjoyed seeing you with the 3 Eyz team on the show too!

Myron was a complete jerk to us.

Yeah, he sure comes off as one cocky git doesn't he? At least in season 2 there were moments where he got to do something other than brag and belittle others which made him a little more tolerable.

I'm liking the different perspectives in this discussion.

I was pretty critical of season 2's format at first. Then as it progressed, I ended up enjoying it better than season 1.

Season 1 was more of a glimpse into the world of competition BBQ and the dynamic between the competitors. Season 2 was more about the food and how they had to bring a different skill set and go outside their comfort zone to cook things other than the typical Comp BBQ fair.

We got a more in depth look at the competitors' thought process behind their cooks. I especially enjoyed watching those thoughts being put into action from start to finish, especially with the Fire Pit & Sidewinder challenges. To be given something they'd possibly never cooked before and have to come up with something great in a short time added a whole other dimension.

That's part of what I love about the this very forum. We get that same out-of-the-box thinking not to mention great photo journals showing progress from start to finish.

BP, I think repeat appearances have more to do with how well the team was portraited in the submission video than anything else. If you came off as having great chemistry working together, teasing, looking natural and fun to be around (and more importantly, fun to watch) you will be picked. Your season 2 video was the best! It portrayed your boys as just that, fun to be around and interesting to watch and they looked natural doing it, not forced, contrived or false. If your season 3 submission video focused on team chemistry again my money is on BPS repeat appearing. Half the cast from season 1 was on season 2 so the precidence is already set.

Scooter not at all accurate. I will tell more later but they should have told us not to bother. Markus has said in tv speak that "bps gives good tv" but they want fresh faces......we did not get contacted today so it looks like no Season 3 for bps

I saw the BP Team and Trigg comp...i dont know which season it was. I thought it was fun to watch and see how teams work together. Mixon was his usual self heh. How frustrating would it be to put yer main cook on and then lose the mini comp and have to put your fire out? I thought that was kinda fubar. Must be a tv thing.

Don't think we are in either, no contact this time. But that's ok, it seems we are pretty busy the next few months. We even have a trip to Hawaii that popped up. Yey!!

OK Myron was a complete jerk to us.

I'll give the man his cred's. But sometimes he has some serious attitude? And to be honest with you I've seen better cooks here than on pitmasters. No knocks to BP. Ribs, chicken, brisket. Ribs, chicken, brisket. Thier challanges??? Coleslaw? I would put up that Mak sundae against alot of whats cooked there. Just my opinion.
