BBQ Pitmasters season 4 (aka season 3-B)

Premiered last Sunday night with a brisket and Cowboy cut rib steak cookoff. It was interesting to watch but I didn't learn anything like I did with seasons 1 and 3. I still prefer season 1 the most. It was the closest to what an actual BBQ competition is about.

This season format is similar to last season with the exception that each episode will crown a winner and that winner is then done. No coming back at the end to battle for GC. Plus, it appears there's no prize money. This first episode Myron kicked in a couple thousand for the prize money? What the?

They will be going to most of the centers of BBQ. Chicago and CA (Santa Maria) were among the BBQ destinations not included in the show.

Anyone else watch it and what are your thoughts?

I watched it.. it was okay, but like you, I am looking for knowledge to improve my cooking.

its reality tv...its tired myrons a cartoon tuffy and franklin are too similar and marcus did a lot for bbq but is not speilberg.
If they find a more obscure network it will be with a www. before it. Very Very low budget...

That's half empty talk. It's still BBQ on TV with some of our friends getting a chance to shine.
Agreed it's very low budget this season which may signal the end of it being on TV.
Still, I enjoyed watching it and still have it DVR'd! It's BBQ on TV!
I like the regional aspect of the show and learned that Texas brisket is cooked a but longer than competition brisket! :)

no its really not living up to what we deserve....any tv is better than no tv....also scooter keep in mind that I was at one of the shootings this year and participated in the show in the past...I sort of know the backstories

Sorry to hear that BP. I'll revel in my ignorance and enjoy the episodes and the knowledge that SANTA LIVES!! :)
