Big_Jake... I thought I saw you just got your MAK-2 star a few weeks ago? Isn't the pan mentioned here just for older MAK-2-stars? I am just looking for clarification on this. If it does fit the newer MAK-2stars then I would be interested in getting one

The black pans are for the older maks. It's the pan I use all the time since I got lucile.

Yes, it will fit both the retrofit kits for the 2011 models as well as the new 2012 models (for those who want a solid pan without any Flame Zone holes).

you can use the old blank pan w/ the new flame zone kit? i took out the dimble pan and put the old blank pan in the new flame zone kit. the grates don't sit flat w/ the old blank pan in the flame zone. is the new blank pan the same as the old ones?

This is not the old pan that came with your grill, it is a blank pan for the new quick change flame zone kit.

B.P.S. does not have them in just yet but they should.I did not read where it says "Fits all MAK 2 Star Generals built prior to 2012."

So........... are people having problems with the lil inserts that block the flame zone on the 2012 flamezone??????????? Confused why anyone would want to buy the blank pan for their 2012 when they come with the covers??????

I am not having problems with them no,but I think it would be easier to clean/manage if I know I am only going to smoke indirectly.Plus I think foiling would be easier as well.
