Hi,
I am Rodger (Wildcat-smoker). I am new to Pellet smoking, new Traeger Texas being delivered 5/3/2013. I am by no means new to smoking. I have been smoking on an old homemade, given to me by someone getting ready to take it to the dump, 3 rack, vert, cabinet style, stick burner. I had to make repairs and some alterations over the last 18 years, but it has worked well for me. I have smoked for about 20 graduatrion parties, 20-30 birthday gatherings, 5 weddings (one of which was my own sons), too many family reunions and get togethers to count, and over 18 years of smoking for my family and myself. I have loved every minute of it, have learned much, watched my children grow to adults. Watched and helped my son build his own 300 gal horizontal stick burner on a trailer ( he is getting ready to enter his first competition ths spring). Decided that it was time to get myself something new and nice. I will not get rid of my other smoker (old faithful), I will still use it often, but I am ready to try something new. Ready to learn another aspect of something I love. Hope to make many new friends.

Thanks for all the welcomes, I am glad to be here.

New Texas arrived about 45 minutes ago. I have it going through the burn right now, then it is off to work for a few hours ( i knew I should have taken the day off ). The first meal will be pe prepared tonight, then in the morning 2 butts, some babybacks, and a couple of fatties. Can't wait
