Finally pulling the trigger on Mak 2...now where to buy

After almost a month of going back and forth, I decided on the Mak 2 star smoker. I'm in upstate NY and looking for suggestions on the best place to order from. I figure I'll start with the searing grates, griddle and a cover for now and add on once I know what I want. Thanks in advance and look forward to sharing experiences and recipes on the site.

First off, welcome to the forum. I am excited for you because you are getting into a truly phenomenal grill/smoker!

About where to buy, there is no question in my mind...

Buy it from: Big Poppa Smokers

They are the number 1 dealer, you cannot beat their service (I am speaking from experience), they are just a phone call away, and best of all it helps to support this forum. :)

DO NOT worry that they are on the west coast. They are as close as your phone and you will be taken care of above and beyond your expectations! Again, I am speaking from experience here.

Congratulations on your decision! I just received my new Mak 2 Star from BPS. Easy transaction and delivery. I recommend getting the full upper grate as well. Enjoy!

BPS is definitely where you go. Pay for the white glove delivery. This comes on a pallet is VERY heavy. You will need help later on, say if you are going to take it around back to put on a deck or etc...

You will LOVE your 2 Star. Besides the griddle and searing grate, I recommend 2 half upper grates as it provides more flexibility than the full upper grate, IMHO. I would also get the Wifi if you can swing it. I use it pretty much every time I turn my 2 Star on.

Oh, and the front shelf is awesome. Has a handy paper towel holder built in. You can get away without it because of the space on top of the pellet hopper and cold smoker, but it's sure nice to have.

I got my MAK in December from a local dealer at a huge discount (floor model had been sitting there for a year), otherwise there is no question -- I would have bought from BPS. I've bought accessories and rubs and other stuff from BPS - they are great to work with and Big Poppa is the real deal.

Good choice on the 2 star. Just be aware, you will have to wait a bit. The 2014 models are all gone now and the 2015 model hasn't been released yet. I'm in the same boat as you. Gonna call BPS tomorrow though and order some accessories. Probably just the searing grate for me right now, and maybe the casters.
