Forum Bashing. Clarity and honesty

It has been brought to my attention that a certain other former number one pellet forum has seized on the Scallywag thread to discredit me and this forum once again. Please understand that that forum claims to be about promoting pellet smoking....but seems to be very aware of our presence and very concerned.

I started this forum because in my opinion they were less than transparent and lacked integrity. It also wasn't enough cooking for my taste.

If you notice this forum is about cooking and helping people get better results from their pellet grill. This is my first public acknowledgement of their noise.

I do not ever read other members pm's here. I am very clear letting people know that ANY mod can read them, on ANY forum. That is part being transparent. Dont send something in the internet world that you dont want to come back to you.

I did not read Scallywags PM....It was implied that I did so a member could save face from someone who didn't want to be outed as ratting out a fellow board member. Period. Once again... have never read anyones private messages.

Anybody who continues to imply these slanderous and untrue statements needs to understand that they are potentially damaging this forum and it's owner. In other words...prove it or get a good attorney ( I said a good attorney......hehehe) probably because you will need one.

Hey while you guys at Pelletheads are reading this...did you see that we got the number one dealer for Memphis Grills in North America? Oh yeah and the number one dealer in the world for MAK? How are your weekly cooking contests going?

Now on to positive things like being better cooks and supporting one another.

i, myself have always enjoyed this forum. it is run w/ dignity and honesty. what i like the most is that we all enjoy cooking w/ pellets (lump too). we take lots of pics of everything that we cook. the best. i like it here. like a 2nd home. we don't have to agree w/ each other all the time but what family does. that what makes our family here stronger. we have a good time here. i like all the camaraderie and it is appreciated from everyone. we welcome all the new ppl and offer alot of help to anyone who ask for it. lol. some of us can offer to much help sometimes. its all good.

We do our own thing here which is cook and educate. Don't really care what's said about us elsewhere especially since I can't control it. As a moderator on PelletSmoking.com I feel like the Maytag repairman much of the time with this group. I've never experienced a forum where the members just seem to focus on helping each other instead of pecking at each other.

When I began researching pellet smoking and smokers almost a year ago, I found two forums that I thought would be helpful. This forum being one of them. I stopped paying attention to the other forum because several of the members had a tendency to bash other members. Those members were not very open-minded and believed that their opinion was the only opinion, and was the obvious correct opinion and would trash others. I have never seen that on this forum. I have seen differences of opinion, but from what I have noticed, it has always been done respectfully of others. When criticism here is given, it is typically because another has asked for such. I stopped paying attention to the other forum quite a while ago, and haven't been back until yesterday when I was looking for the thread where someone was building an outdoor kitchen with the MAK 2 Star. Wanted to see the results. Anyway. Thank you BP for running a great, respectable forum where the members appreciate and respect one another.

Sterling, thanks for clearing the air...I don't read the other forum, and I know nothing is private on forums...never the less, it was disturbing to think you had time to waste reading our PM's. This forum has been a beacon in the vast wasteland and I respect what you have built. Thanks again for providing the place with the best signal to noise ratio on the net!

I barely have time for posts here much less take the time to read pm's....Remember I also have three other companies, a family, outside board commitments, and a couple of hobbies. I have a hard time finding time to sleep.

In the end it is the high road I prefer. I have never started a thread about them until today...they cannot say that.

I saw that thread on the other forum. I think the vast majority (if not all) of the members here will agree when I say, believe me, the fact that we are still here proves that you and the moderators here have our trust & respect... or we wouldn't be here!

What can I say, there is a reason this forum is loved and that is because of its members and the staff that keeps it positive. The best thing about this site is I get to be myself, what you see from me is truth and integrity not some hidden agenda.

I am a member of both sites and learn a lot from all the members. I think the post was very unwarranted I just cannot understand people if you don't like a site then just stay away no reason to talk shit. If you cant swim in more than one pool stay home BP keep doing what you do.

I will clarify it here.. and on the other site tomorrow as well.. BP did not read a PM between me and another user!! I received a pm from someone I have never seen on this forum before suggesting I look at another pit that is sold locally and for a lot less. I have done alot of research and have my mind made up on a Mak..1 for the quality.. 2 for the service level I know I will receive! I just thought it was inappropriate for some one to approach me like that on the bandwith that BP pays for. I let Bp know the Pm I got... not to "rat" just felt like he should know other company's could be using his site to steer buisness away...

I dont think it was a coincidence... easy place to steer business if someone's in the market.. not saying for sure that was the intention but to do it on a site you pay for is in poor taste IMO

And IMO the other site really does not hold a candle to this one.. I have been a member of that site longer than this one and I have 4 or 5 posts.. It was you guys here that got me really wanting to be involved in this crazy habit we all have!
