Traeger grille temp all over the place! :( a little brezzy out and temp in the low 50's. Started the smoke with grille just inside the garage to help with the wind, set on 225 grille temp would get as high as 330 so I set it on 180 and would go up to 260 or so!
I'm using BBQ Delight pellets mixed (apple/hickory).

Any ideas whay?

As a Traeger owner myself, this is an ongoing battle with the traegers during times of inclement weather..... I've went and bought fireplace replacement bricks and lined the bottom of mine. if you click on my name and look at my album you can see how I got mine set up. It helps but still have issues! Also adjusting your "P" setting if you look at Traeger's website they tell you how to set it and all that, I usually run mine at P0. It was nice and calm out yesterday and with my bricks and P0 set I stayed at 225 + or - 5 degrees. But yeah man like I said if you get a good wind I think us Traeger owners are pretty much doomed. There may be someone with more experience than I with it as I know there are several Traeger folks on here. But I haven't been able to conquer the windy temp issues. Hope this helped!

Thanks for the input Smokin, I own the BBQ400 and look through the manual and the website but didn't find anything on adjusting settings. I will try the fireplace bricks for sure!

Here's a link that may help. Team Traeger | Large temp fluctuations

Yeah you got the newer supposedly better version of my BBQ300 atleast the hopper is on the outside of the grill! lol That was a bad design on the 300! If you look at your temp controller in the top right corner you should see what looks like a reset button, if you use a nail, or something small enough to hit it it'll probably show that you are at P3 or P4 what ever the factory setting is in the screen you see your temps in it goes from 0-9. Like I said for me P0 usually works pretty well. You just have to keep pushing the button til you get to the desired setting.

Your input was a blessing SmokinS :) I left an email on Traeger's website and they got right back to me, changed the P settings and it calmed down running +- 5 degrees!
