Hackberry wood question??

neighbor of mine cut down a Hackberry tree. old timer said to save the wood cause its great for meat smoking. is that true? anyone have experience smoking with hackberry wood?

I've never used Hackberry for smoking, but it is a fruit bearing tree. Most fruit/nut trees are good smoking woods. Your neighbor is probably right. I'd give it a try.

Agreed, if it's fruit or nut bearing I'd give it a try. Even some citrus trees I've heard are usable.
