Yes from BOSTON,lol Not a lot of Q joints up north,so I'm trying to stick my toe in starting in my backyard. I'm actually in a jam between the Yoder YS640 and the MAK 1 star,so any insight from you Q heads would be great. thx

The issue is we have more MAK users then any other type grill on this forum, including myself. Both units you are looking at have users who are happy with their purchase. Unless you have a opportunity to cook on both and compare it is hard to tell what would fit your style. I know not a lot of help just information .

Welcome to the forum Boostin. What type of cooking will you do the most, hot & fast, low & slow, searing, how many people are you cooking for? Lots of questions to ask yourself. Do your homework, make your choice and never look back. Good luck and good smoking.

MAK is innovation centered, quality built and customer service focused since 2009. There were only a handful of pellet pit manufacturers back then. Yoder is a relative newcomer to the pellet pit market.
You won't find another pit with the innovative features of a MAK cooker including WiFi control which NO OTHER pellet cooker has. Just one of the recent innovations from our friends in Dallas, OR.

Do your research. There are many, many previous threads discussing the merits of one pit over another you can read.

Welcome to pelletsmoking.com and I too am a very happy MAK owner. I agree with all that has been said about the MAK and having used several other pellet cookers, I see nothing in their price range(s) that compares. I have seen and used it on several home fronts and also seen it used in competition. It does stand up to the higher priced cookers in competition. Innovation is not just a catch phrase at MAK, they live it. Give MAK serious consideration and should you choose MAK over other cookers, you will not regret it.
