I have a friend whose dad works for Traeger so my wife bought me a Traeger through this friend and gave it to me for our anniversary last April. I have wanted one for years, so needless to say this was an awesome gift.
Apparently they get a few returned to them from people who generally don't read the directions. They often hear, "I filled the hopper, turned it to 350 degrees, and then it was full of fire after a few minutes! This thing is dangerous!" The directions tell us to start off at "smoke" every time to stoke the pellets until the pellet cup can handle a faster rate of pellet delivery. If you don't do this, the pellets will be delivered very quickly, pile up, and eventually turn into a small inferno. Or they don't vacuum out their cold ashes very often which causes problems too. But this isn't just how Traegers work. This is every auger-driven pellet smoker I am aware of, right?
Anyways, their loss is my gain. Traeger cleans them up and resells them to family and friends of employees! And I am happy to join your group!
