How much do the dog days of summer affect you r cooks? Do you cook less? I sort of notice it...that when it gets to be the hottest it slows down a little.....
Yes, it tends to slow down a little for me, although I did just cook for the marching band this past Friday: 100+ students this year plus staff. Three whole pork shoulders (48.5 lbs), plus Mac-N-Cheese & Sour Cream & Onion Mashed Potatoes with cheese & bacon (both homemade of course).
Certain types of smoking slow way-y-y-y down for me during warm weather. Things like Bacon, ham, smoked sausage, etc. are better to make in cooler weather when it's a little easier to control temps and get a longer smoke.
Sadly with temps over 110 Minnie the MAK is not getting as much cook time as we would like. I have braved it a few times, but trying to do it early morning, which means weekends only.
It don't slow me down at all but I don't spend much time hanging around outside..it's check it and back into the air conditioning! Up till this week illinois has experienced the mildest summer and perfect temps I can remember. But It's not just hot today...it's Africa Hot!!
