In order to post pictures, you will need a place on the internet to "host" your pictures. There are several free services that will provide this hosting. Photobucket.com is the one we will use for these instructions.

(Note: Photobucket frequently changes it steps on how to post pictures to forums, the steps may now be different but these instructions should get you up and going.)

Downloading pictures from your digital camera to your computer is not covered in these instructions.

Go to PhotoBucket and sign up for a free account.

Uploading pictures:
Change the "reduce to" size to 800 x 600

Click on "Choose files"

Navigate to the picture(s) you want to upload
PB3.jpg

Click on the picture you want to upload.

Once the picture is uploaded, you will be prompted to give each picture a title.
NOTE: these titles will NOT be displayed in your messages.

Click on "Save and Continue"

You should then be on your album page. If you click on the "IMG code" field, it should say "copied"

Proceed to your post. It will be easier if you have both the photobucket.com and the PelletSmoking.com forum web sites open at the same time.
Type the text of your post, then hit CTRL-V to paste the IMG link that you copied in step 3.

You can then click on "preview" to view what your post will look like. Make any adjustments, then POST!

Will this just post the link to the picture that was uploaded or will it actually show the picture in the message field. If not, how do you post a picture which is larger like the ones most are showing?

The image code tags -->
tells the webpage to "Display this picture (that's stored somewhere else) HERE" in the message field.

If you have Google Picasa, the steps are a little different, but still not hard.

This will also work no matter where you host your photos.

Step 1 - Copy the pic's URL:

If using Internet Explorer:
a) Right Click on your pic, then Click "Properties"
COPYPIC1.JPG

b) Highlight & copy the URL:
COPYPIC2.JPG

If using FireFox:
Right Click your Pic and click "Copy Image location"
COPYPIC3.JPG

===============================================================

Step 2 - Insert the URL in your post.

Option A - This is easy. Move your cursor to where you want the photo, type the image tags "
" and paste the URL in between them like this:

ExamplePic.jgp

To see your pictures, Click "Go Advanced" or "Preview Post".

Option B
- Use the "Insert Image" Button, and you'll get one of these two windows:

Simple editor looks like this:
COPYPIC4.JPG

Advanced editor looks like this:
COPYPIC5.JPG

Hope this helps!

Check out fotoluv! share the luv! You can upload a photo(s) and get back a POST URL. No accounts to maintain, very easy and fast. Choose the "BBCODE" option and cut and paste the provided link into your post. Works great on Craigslist and other services which allow image embedding.
