I need a little planing help

I will be having 40 or so people come over for my sons b-day party and was planning on doing brisket and pulled pork. If I want to plan on them taking roughly the same time then should I look for 7lbs size of each or get bigger pork and smaller brisket?

I plan to have people eat around 4:30, so I could start them the night before and pull them early to allow for FTC for a couple hours.

I need to go shopping this afternoon for the meat so I was hoping to get 7 lbs butts and 2 briskets.

Any insights are welcome!

I've never timed them together like that, but I would start them both the night before and use FTC to stage them.

How much pork butt are you going to get?

That's going to give you roughly 7lbs of pulled pork, about 28 servings.

Briskets I've never served to a crowd, my go-to is pork butt. I would assume the same 50% loss and 1/4lb serving size.

so 2 8lb briskets will serve 32. - that doesn't sound right to me, but like I said, I've never fed brisket to a crowd or measured the cooking losses.
