Watch your internal temps early on as you get a feel for your Traeger. I own three and I love them but they each have their hot spots. I rarely, if ever, take my Traeger higher than 275. They advertise grilling on it hot and fast but I don't use those temperatures. So if it comes to grilling on it I won't be able to help. Plus, IMO, the pellets lose their good aromatics around 300 or 325.
When I ordered my XL the temps inside were much higher than what the digital read out were saying. After some frustration and a lot of supervising I finally got it right. I didn't have any of these troubles with my Texas. Digital thermostat is very nice instead of the one with just 3-4 setting on it.
I am addicted to my Traeger and I think you'll enjoy yours. Even though I am relatively new to this form myself, Welcome.
Welcome! Most here either started on a Traeger or have used one at one time or another. I started on a Traeger and see one used at every competition I have judged. Lots of experience with Travelers here so should you have a question, ask away. Does not matter if you cook hot and fast or low and slow, a Traeger is out there that can handle it.
